A Comparative Study of Proto Indo-European European Roots with Panini Dhatupath; Research work of Dr. Rahul Khate

This research undertakes a comparative linguistic study of Proto-Indo-European roots and Sanskrit dhaturupa (verbal roots), with a focus on phonetics and etymology. Drawing upon a large collection of English vocabulary, the study examines lexical and phonetic correspondences between English, Sanskrit, Prakrit, and other Indian languages, alongside references to selected European and Asian languages. Emphasizing sound units as the fundamental elements of language, the work explores historical relationships among languages through shared phonetic structures and root formations. The book contributes to the study of historical linguistics, comparative philology, and Sanskrit language science.

जनवरी (January) और गणेश : आरंभ के देवता हमारे भारतीय कैलेंडर का पहला महीना “जनवरी” (January) है। इसका नाम पड़ा जेनस (Janus) नामक रोमन देवता पर। जेनस को द्वारों और आरंभों का देवता माना जाता था। उसे दो चेहरों के साथ चित्रित किया जाता था – एक चेहरा पीछे की ओर (अतीत की ओर) और दूसरा सामने की ओर (भविष्य की ओर)। वर्ष की शुरुआत, नए उपक्रम और परिवर्तन की घड़ी में रोमन लोग उसी की पूजा करते थे। संस्कृत परंपरा में गणेश उसी आदर्श की झलक दिखाते हैं। गण का अर्थ है समूह, समुदाय, श्रेणी, और ईश का अर्थ है स्वामी। गणेश यानी “गणों के स्वामी”, “आरंभ के स्वामी।” किसी भी शुभ कार्य, यात्रा या अनुष्ठान की शुरुआत उन्हीं के आह्वान से की जाती है। वे विघ्नहर्ता हैं – बाधाओं को दूर करने वाले और आरंभ को मंगलमय बनाने वाले। भाषाई दृष्टि से देखें तो जनवरी और गणेश सीधे एक ही जड़ से नहीं निकले हैं। जनवरी का संबंध लैटिन Ianuarius और देवता Janus से है, जो आगे चलकर प्रोटो-इंडो-यूरोपीय धातु ieh₁- (“जाना, पार करना”) से जुड़ता है। वहीं गणेश संस्कृत की धातु √गण् (“गिनना, समूह बनाना”) और ईश (“स्वामी”) से बनते हैं। फि...
